Workshops

Hoku Props workshops are built for makers who want practical skills they can actually use. These classes are hands on, approachable, and grounded in real prop, costume, and fabrication workflows. Whether you want to get comfortable with an airbrush, get smoother prints ready for primer and paint, or start sculpting in 3D on a device you already own, these workshops are designed to help you build real skills you can take straight into your own projects.

Current Workshops

These are the workshops currently available through Hoku Props. Each one has its own focus, but all of them are built around real technique, practical problem solving, and helping people make with more confidence.

Airbrush 101

A hands on introduction to airbrushing for people who want to understand the tool instead of fighting with it. This workshop covers setup, safety, compressor basics, paint reduction, spray control, cleaning, and the habits that make airbrushing feel consistent and usable. It is built to help beginners start strong, but it is also a great reset for people who already own an airbrush and want a better foundation.

Sanding 101

A practical workshop focused on surface prep and finishing fundamentals. This class helps makers understand how to take rough parts, especially 3D prints and fabricated surfaces, and work toward something cleaner, smoother, and ready for primer and paint. It is designed to make sanding feel less random, less frustrating, and more like a repeatable process you can rely on.

What to Expect

Hands On First

These workshops are built around doing, not just watching. The goal is to get tools in your hands, reduce intimidation, and build confidence through guided practice.

Built From Real Making Experience

The teaching approach comes from actual prop and fabrication workflows, not generic overview content. The focus is on what helps people improve faster in real world use.

Beginner Friendly, Without Watering Things Down

These classes are approachable for newer makers, while still offering better habits, cleaner technique, and a stronger process for people who want to improve.
